This is just one of the reasons Challenge Expedtions was created. To enable young people to have an opportunity not only to achieve but to also develop and learn new skills, meet new people and provide a firm foundation for building on in the future.

Challenge Expeditions aims to be as accessible as possible to all those wishing to take part in the DofE adventure.

Aiming to provide an enthusiastic and professional young person focused service, Challenge Expeditions allows young people to take control of their expedition.

All of our staff have a youth work background with a passion for the outdoors and a wealth of experience delivering expeditions.
Having worked with local authorities the Boys Brigade, The Scouts and many other large organisations our staff have the skills, knowledge and experience to ensure your expedition is a success.

Simon Ogunlana

Simon is a qualified Youth Worker, with over 12 years’ experience working with young people in various settings. Over the last few years he has been delivering expedition leadership to all ages, from 2 days to week long trips including training and taking young people on expeditions at all levels. With previous experience working as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Development Worker in his local council Simon has a sound knowledge of the Award enabling him not only to manage large scale expeditions but also advise others about the other elements of the Award from a participant level right through to Operating Authority.

As a Qualified Mountain Leader and excellent knowledge of the Peak District, Lake District and Snowdonia National Parks, Simon is keen to introduce others to the outdoors to enable them to experience the beauty and enjoyment of life outdoors, even if it’s just a snippet! Simon loves to wild camp and enjoys introducing others to the mountains in a safe, professional, and, most of all, fun way.

Pamela Ogunlana

Pamela is a qualified Youth Worker with over 5 years experience working with young people in various settings. Pamela is a passionate outdoor enthusiast wanting to spend her time introducing and supporting others to the great outdoors. With many years experience in the UK mountain’s Pamela has the knowledge to ensure that others have fun yet are safe when out and about with Challenge Expeditions.

With qualifications in human resources and travel & tourism Pamela is largely responsible for the extensive work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure an expedition is a success. She does love to get outside however so you may just see her on the hill as well.

Approved Activity Provider

Challenge Expeditions is an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. This licence ensures that Challenge Expeditions operates within the parameters and spirit of the Award. The licence also provides an opportunity for the DofE to assess Challenge Expeditions suitability to deliver DofE activities.

Our licence include’s the requirement for regular field visit’s from the Award team to ensure our expedition meet the criteria and are up to the required standard.

Your Health and Safety

As an Approved Activity Provider Challenge Expeditions takes health and safety very seriously and works to ensure that risk is reduced to an absolute minimum. as part of any programme health and safety and emergency procedures will be incorporated into all training delivered and throughout the expedition itself.

Child Protection/Safeguarding
All of our instructors have undergone an enhanced DBS check and have been cleared to work with children and young people. All staff and instructors are also aware of Challenge Expeditions child protection policy and know what to do if they have any concerns about a child or young person. Safeguarding is taken very seriously with Challenge Expeditions and any matters arising will be dealt with according to the policy in place.

AALA
Challenge Expeditions has fully completed the AALA process and now holds a Licence for Hill Walking and Mountaineering activities. Adventure activities licensing ensures that activity providers follow good safety management practices. This licence should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks of death or disabling injury

Qualifications
All instructors employed by Challenge Expeditions have been checked to ensure they hold the correct level of qualification to deliver the activities on offer. In addition Challenge Expeditions also takes into account an instructors level of experience as well as their qualification to ensure you get the best. All instructors have a current first aid certificate of at least a 16 hour first aid at work course. Our instructors are continually looking to develop professionally and increase their skill base.

Insurance
As with all adventurous activities it is important that suitable insurance is sought. Challenge Expeditions ensures that it’s insurance cover meets the requirements of the outdoor industry. Challenge Expeditions is fully insured for the activities it provides.
